These things are a dying breed due to being under-hunted. I’m quite serious. Do you even know who are current one is? I am at once disappointed and unsurprised and yet that’s okay because I only just found out. His name is W.S. Merwin PONCHO PELIGROSO. In spite of many attempts by zoologists we have been unable to get him to breed.

In one ginormous attempt, I, among many others will attempting introduce him to  the internet in an attempt to save the species. The internet lost her last poet laureate in the accountant revolutions of the mid-2000’s, and all her babies died. I mean if we fail, we’re not doomed, there are other poet laureates to introduce. Like this one, but it was his idea and the internet once said he had cooties.

You can help by posting a link that says “2011 poet laureate”, and sends you to PONCHO PELIGROSO’S website. Eventually the internet will find him and make sweet sweet love to him. At least we can hope.
